NileGuide helps you book…with full transparency and objectivity

New Features, NileGuide Updates — By Josh Steinitz on December 11, 2008 at 5:22 pm

I’m pleased to announce the release of NileGuide version 4.7. We’re all incredibly excited, because this release is chock-full of lots of cool and helpful features that will help our users plan better trips. Here’s a short summary of some key new enhancements:

New NileGuide Features

Hotel Booking – We now display real-time availability and pricing for tens of thousands of hotels around the world, and you can actually book them all directly with NileGuide. Simply click the “Check Rates” button for any hotel in our Lodging tab, enter your dates of travel, and we’ll show you pricing and availability for multiple room types.

Hotel Rate Comparison — For these same hotels, you can also quickly and easily compare our rates with other sites like Orbitz, Hotels.com, Priceline and Expedia. Our goal is to be 100% transparent and objective, and we’ll never prevent you from seeing a better price on another site—we’ll even take you there directly.  You can find these options once you check rates for specific dates on any hotel.

Metasearch Widget – With one click you can compare prices from multiple sources for airfare, hotels, and car rentals anywhere in the world (even for destinations not covered yet by NileGuide). To find the widget, check out the left column of any search tab like Food, Lodging, or Nightlife.

Activity Booking — We have integrated thousands of bookable in-destination activities around the world from Viator. They’re automatically displayed in your search results in our See & Do tab, with a handy button that takes you directly to Viator to complete your booking.

Hotel photos/virtual tours – We’re adding hotel photo slideshows, videos, and virtual tours for thousands of hotels around the world, in partnership with VFM Interactive, the leading provider of rich media hotel content. You’ll be able take a tour through the lobby, and see photos of the rooms, restaurant, and more.

Sharing - Now you can easily share any point of interest you find on NileGuide with friends or family. Just click on the “Share” link on any item detail page to open our “Add This” widget, and you can easily email a friend and post to Facebook, Digg, My Yahoo, and many other places.

Join our group! – Finally, we’ve launched a NileGuide Facebook group and Twitter feed. Sign up to follow our progress and stay up to date on the latest news and notes from NileGuide. You can also subscribe to an RSS feed of this blog.

So, I’d encourage anyone to start with NileGuide whenever you’re booking a flight, hotel, or car rental anywhere in the world, using our metasearch widget to quickly access 10 different booking sites with one simple click.

If you’re visiting one of the 90 destinations we already cover, consider booking your hotel directly with us in our “Lodging” tab. We’re committed to delivering maximum value to our users, regardless of whether you book with us or not. Likewise, if you’re going out to eat, consider finding a restaurant that’s right for you in our Food section, and then clicking through to reserve it with OpenTable.

Thanks to all for your support. We’re looking forward to you experiencing all these great new features!
