Passports with Purpose

Travel News — By Nicole Lerner on December 24, 2008 at 8:45 am

The holidays are intrinsically a time for giving.  As you scramble for last minute gifts for your friends and family, it’s a great time to reflect on your own good fortune and to think of those who may not be so lucky.

One great cause that deserves your attention this holiday season is Passports with Purpose. The collaborative effort of four Seattle-based travel bloggers (the authors of Delicious Baby, Nerd’s Eye View, WanderMom, and Wanderlust and Lipstick), Passports with Purpose is a fundraiser for Heifer International, an organization working to end hunger and poverty in communities around the world.  Thanks to the efforts of a small army of travel bloggers, companies, and everyday travelers alike, Passports with Purpose has already raised over $5000! And there’s still time to help.

Enter the Passports with Purpose raffle, and secure a chance to win one of many great travel prizes.  The prizes range from a three-night stay in Waikiki to a cooking class and dinner for four in New York City and a whole slew of travel goodies in between (you can view the entire list of prizes here). To participate, visit the Passports With Purpose page on FirstGiving and buy a raffle ticket ($10) for each prize you’re interested in. Buying just two raffle tickets ($20) provides a flock of chicks that will generate eggs and income to an impoverished family, and it may also get you that Solio charger we profiled in our Holiday Traveler’s Gift Guide or another great prize.

The raffle is running for one more week, through December 29th, at which point the organizers will draw names and announce the winners for each prize.
