I’d like to introduce our resident gear junkies, Alexi Ueltzen and Tyler Renaghan. As two of NileGuide’s content managers, they are up to their ears in destination-specific details from Auckland to Amsterdam, and they’re hard at work on launching new NileGuide destinations.
Starting today, they will also be posting regularly to the NileGuidance blog with reviews of travel gear and equipment. Read their reviews in our Equip Your Trip category. Have a specific gear question or want them to review a particular product? Shoot an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
I sat down with Tyler and Alexi to ask them a few questions for this introduction. Here’s what they said:
1. Where are you from?
Tyler: The streets of Mountain View – yeah, I know, nobody is actually from the home of Silicon Graphics, Cisco, and Google…well I really am!
Alexi: I grew up in the suburbs outside of Sacramento – it was a good childhood. Simpler times, when Arnold Schwarznegger wasn’t our governor, and it was still legal to carry water bottles on airplanes.
2. Why should we listen to you?
Tyler: Because we are the authority in travel gear providing our readers with the most up-to-date and insightful reviews on the hottest gear in travel…and I’m almost as awesome as Alexi.
Alexi: Not only am I awesome, I’m also a really good speller.
3. What are you wearing right now?
Tyler: Jeans, jacket, shoes, and goggles…it’s ski season after all.
Alexi: Just normal work clothes. And a helmet.
4. What’s on your travel gear wish list?
Tyler: A heated travel mug – who doesn’t wish they could warm up their cup-o-joe on the go?
Alexi: One of these. Because I can’t grow my own. Also useful when the line for the women’s restroom is too long.
5. What was your most recent gear purchase?
Tyler: This Backcountry Access Tracker DTS Avalanche Beacon…never leave home without it.
Alexi: A pair of these. Natural rise AND antimicrobial.
