Top 5 Hotel Blogs for Consumers

Top 5/10 Lists — By Kirstin Hornby on March 17, 2009 at 10:15 am

It turns out that it’s rather challenging to find consumer-oriented, hotel-only blogs.  But after a little digging I pulled together a short list of some pretty cool (albeit not always ‘blogs’) sites with an eye for the hotel-savvy consumer.

  1. TrendHunt Magazine: Hot Hip Hotels and Reviews -This site takes the cake for amazing lists of unique hotel reviews and lists such as Tacky Travel Destinations (Madonna Inn Shares Name, Age + Gaudy Style With the Material Girl), Treehouse Resorts, and Zero Star Hotels.
  2. Uptake’s Hotel Blog – When I imagine what a great hotel blog would look like, it looks close to Uptake’s.  Timely, interesting pieces on new hotels, hotel trends (think green) and timely hotel deals.
  3. Hotel Chatter is another excellent site for the hotel connoisseur.  With a pop culture twist, it keeps readers entertained with doozies such as An Adventure a la ‘The Amazing Race’ at The Landings St. Lucia, ‘Get Your Game On’ at Encore for March Madness and Is Paris Hilton a Four Seasons Fangirl?
  4. The Informed Traveler: Cal Simmons Guide to Luxury Travel – If you feel like dreaming (or happen to be rich), this is a fun site.  However, even this Five Star Alliance site can’t avoid the current economic conditions, as indicated in recent posts such as Tips for Luxury Travel at an Affordable Price and $50 Spa Treatments and Serious Discounts During Spa Week.
  5. Mr. and Mrs. Smith Boutique and Hotel Specialists - Unlike the movie, this hotel website brings a peaceful air to conquering your quest for the coolest, and hottest hotels out there.  It provides a comprehensive guide to boutique hotels, with advanced search functionality.  They also have a decent blog.

Honorable mentions: What A Hotel blog and Perfect Escapes: the Suite Life. Although these blogs may focus on hotels associated with their websites, there are certainly some valuable nuggets within.
