Vancouver has long been known as “Hollywood North” and it’s not uncommon to spot celebrities around town. A few months ago, Chris Noth (yes, Big himself) was having a drink at the Gerard Lounge in the Sutton Place Hotel where some friends and I were having a nightcap. Two weeks ago the waitress at The Mill Marine Bistro & Bar couldn’t stop talking about how she had just served Renée Zellweger and Ryan Reynolds only moments before. But, none of this compares to what’s really going on in Vancouver right now. You guys must know what I’m talking about. Edward, I mean Rob Pattinson, and the rest of the Twilight cast have been causing quite the stir all over Vancouver this year, especially Downtown.
On any given day, it’s not uncommon to see Twihards roaming around Vancouver, wearing their Twilight t-shirts, hoping to get a glimpse of any of the cast members. Though it’s difficult for the case to remain anonymous when they have one of the biggest cult following of fans and paparazzi around to snap their every move, it’s not unheard of to catch a glimpse of one of the vamps on the streets of Vancouver. So, let’s cut to the chase and talk about where they have been and what they have been doing.
Yaletown is well known for hogging some of Vancouver’s best restaurants. Earlier in the year, Rob Pattinson celebrated his 23rd birthday at the well known Glowbal Grill & Satay Bar with Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene and Jamie Bower. Needless to say there were many well-wishers waiting for him (see: grab a lock of his hair/get a whiff of his scent) as he left the restaurant. Yaletown Brewing Co. is only a few doors down from Glowbal and it too has also been graced with the vampires’ royal presence. Though the guys were enjoying a cold one, they were gracious enough to stop and take a few pictures with some eager fans.
Most recently, all of the cast members have been seen arriving at Vancouver’s YVR Airport as they arrive from weekends away in Los Angeles and various other award shows. There have been numerous sightings and shots of the gang shopping along Robson Street, grabbing the odd Starbucks and even stopping in at the local Tom Lee Music Store on Granville Street.
We’ve all heard Kings of Leon blasting on the radio all summer long and the band made a stop in Vancouver a few weeks ago. It seems like we’re not the only ones that have a penchant for the sweet Tennessee tunes, after a dinner at the Water Street Café in Gastown, the cast headed to GM Place to catch the show.
The filming of Twilight is coming to an end, which means wrap parties are in store! Nestled in Gastown, Boneta is another local favorite amongst foodies and industry types in Vancouver. The gang, minus Kristen Stewart, went to the joint for dinner on a Friday night. Who knows, that could have been the same night that Kristen Stewart was seen at Domino’s Pizza in Yaletown grabbing a few pizzas with friends. So, if you can’t afford to wine and dine yourself on a regular basis like these guys, just pick up the phone and dial your local Domino’s and know that you too are eating like a star.
Is your city a frequent hot spot for celebrities? Have you been out for dinner and nearly choked on your bread as a movie star sat down at the table beside you?
