New Discovery Series “Life” Finds a Large Audience

Travel News — By Molly McGonigle on March 30, 2010 at 9:20 am

For eleven Sundays in a row and two hours at a time, Discovery will air their new series called Life. Beautifully composed of different nature photographs and narrated by Oprah Winfrey, Life is a visually unprecedented new program.

Life uses photographs that are created using state of the art cameras to make the captured images look as realistic and stunning as possible. The cameras Life uses can take 2,000-3,000 frames a second, allowing viewers to see details they would otherwise miss out on because they happen so quickly. For example, from the comfort of your couch you can see what transpires with different plants and the joys of a successful whale watching encounter.

Each week, Life will follow different types of animals and the challenges they face in this changing environmental climate. The producers of Life want to engage viewers and give them a new experience and perspective of nature.

This past weekend, Discovery debuted Life on Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, Planet Green, Investigation Discovery, Science Channel, and Discovery Health to an impressive total of over 10 million viewers.

As the series continues, all you travelers who are home bound can escape from reality for two hours and be transported on a magical vacation via your TV screen.
