The Bermuda Department of Tourism is offering free flights from London to Bermuda for all residents of the UK and Ireland who are at least 18 years old. There’s just a few small catches:
- travel must be completed between now and October 31, 2010
- you must purchase a minimum of four nights’ accommodation in a property officially recognized by the Bermuda Department of Tourism
- you must email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line ‘I can’t wait to get married in Bermuda’, and complete the registration form they send you back by June 15, 2010
- one last tiny detail — you have to get married while you’re in Bermuda
So if you’re a UK or Irish resident and are single (or can get a divorce finalized before the end of October) all you need to do to earn your free trip is find someone willing to marry (or remarry) you in Bermuda during the offseason. There’s a certain romance to that, right?
More details: Bermuda Department of Tourism will mail you a cheque for the equivalent monetary value in GBP of two direct return economy flights from London to Bermuda. (If you don’t want to fly economy, they’ll still reimburse you for the price of economy fares, you just pay the difference of the upgrade.) The cheque will be sent within a month of the tourism department receiving your marriage certificate and proof of purchase for both your flights and accommodations.
The Caribbean is already the most popular region for international destination weddings with U.S. couples, so perhaps Bermuda is trying to get a leg up in the British and Irish market.
