‘Space Alien’ Demands The Right To Fly Plane

An unruly passenger who disturbed the peace of a Skywest Airlines Salt Lake City-bound flight Sunday night has proclaimed to authorities investigating the incident that he is a space alien, and was trying to gain access to the highly-secured cockpit in an attempt to fly the plane himself.

The passenger, 32 year old Matthew Kleindorfer, banged on the cockpit door repeatedly, forcing the plane to make an unscheduled landing in Idaho Falls before reaching its ultimate destination. Idaho Falls police commended other passengers, who flight attendants say helped apprehend Kleindorfer and keep the aircraft safe from his antics.

This is the second such incident in less than two weeks, with another passenger forcing a flight destined for Tampa, Florida to make an unscheduled stop after making a thankfully fictitious bomb-threat, calling flight attendants ‘Satanic’ and threatening to “bring the whole plane down.”

A Las Vegas resident, Kleindorfer was making the flight to Utah with his friend, who claimed to have slept through the entire incident. Upon being arrested shortly after landing in Idaho Falls, Kleindorfer was deemed violent and irresponsive, and even kicked and hit police officers who were attempting to apprehend him.

Since the incident, the man has appeared in court, and reports indicate that his behavior has not improved. Whether or not he will be judged fit to stand for trial has yet to be determined, but after having been charged for disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and battery on an officer, it is likely he will face jail time or serious psychiatric evaluation.
