One part obstacle course, one part seven mile dual-mode race. And mud? Did we mention that this year’s Muddy Buddy race in San Jose is likely to leave you and a friend streaked in brown and black by the end of it?
By the time you’d end up crawling through the mud pit at the event on Sunday, June 6, you’ll have biked 3 miles and run 3 miles while passing through five obstacles. At each point, you’re switching off with a pal, according to the event’s site.
You’ll be facing off against up to 1,150 teams, so imagine the course filled with more than 2,000 people who are all trying to make their way as fast as possible to the mud pit signifying the end of the race. Sound like your cup of tea? Registration for the San Jose event is open until the end of the day on June 2.
Fees are $150 per pair, and you’ll have to be available to go to REI San Jose between 1 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 5 to pick up the information. You’ll head to Joseph D. Grant Regional Park on Sunday for the race itself starting at 7:30 a.m.
