NileGuide Announces New $3.5 Million Funding Round

NileGuide Updates — By Amy Widdowson on December 7, 2010 at 12:48 pm

We have news: on Friday, we completed an SEC filing for a $3.5 million round. Our current investors – KPG Ventures, Tenaya Capital and Austin Ventures – all participated, along with some new angels. The funding will accelerate our run towards becoming the world’s leading provider of “for-travelers-by-locals” travel information. We’ll be more deeply integrating the Q & A functionality we acquired with Localyte this spring within NileGuide and expanding our worldwide stable of Local Experts who provide up-to-the-minute travel  info on the cities where they live.

We’re cleaning up design and improving functionality to better showcase content from our Local Experts around the world. We’re also integrating our “Ask Locals” functionality across all pages of our site and starting to showcase the best of our 60,000 NileGuide (formerly Localyte) members around the world. Wish you had a friend to show you around a new destination? That’s the wish we’re granting. Come to NileGuide and find in-the-know people from all over the world who are happy to give you the insider scoop on where to stay, what to do and answer your questions.

We’re looking forward to a new and exciting year! Some screenshots of what’s coming are below.
