With the launch of the latest ski movie premiere, NileGuide headquarters is officially ready for our “wintervention”. As Wired reports, the annual ski movie premiere hits local theaters around the U.S. this time of year (We’re sorry Florida residents, you won’t have the same luck finding a theater that hosts the movie as colder states, such as Colorado). Each year the premiere inspires wanderlust as filmmakers speed viewers down the best ski slopes in the world.
This year’s ski movie is called none other than Wintervention. The film comes from what many call a God in the ski industry, Warren Miller, who some, according to Wired, attribute the term “ski porn” as coming from. Wintervention, a full-length film, takes viewers from the familiar, like Vail, Colorado, to the unfamiliar, such as Gudauri, Georgia. And no, we’re not talking about the Georgia of the Southeastern United States. You can see the trailer to the film below, although we warn you we are not responsible if, upon finishing it, you book a flight to Colorado, Canada, or any other snowy destinations.
The real winter thrill-seeker will love the opening segment of the film, which highlights Antarctica. As you can probably imagine, Antarctica doesn’t exactly have an international airport, so it can be difficult arranging a ski trip there. However, once you see the film, you might just do whatever you have to in order to get to one of the most remote parts of the world. If you can’t make it there, there’s always The North Pole.
