Only in America: Noah’s Ark Theme Park
Travel News — By spencerspellman on December 23, 2010 at 8:42 amFile this latest travel story under “Only in America”. The governor of Kentucky has announced plans to build a Noah’s Ark religious theme park in the coming years. The theme park will resemble similar religious monuments and theme parks you’ll find in the U.S.
The new theme park in Kentucky is of biblical proportions (Ed. note: I see what you did there), with a full-scale Noah’s Ark as the main attraction. The Daily Mail reports that the park is part of an overhaul of Kentucky’s tourism by the state.
While Noah’s Ark will be front and center at the theme park, other features of the park will include the Tower of Babel and a Middle Eastern village. The ark will be set on the shores of the theme park’s lake; however, there is no word whether the lake’s water will be turned into wine, or better yet, into Kentucky bourbon. As the Daily Mail reports, this is by no means the first religious theme park in America. The first religious theme park, which is now closed, was opened in 1978 in South Carolina, enjoying a vibrant life in the 1980s, when it was the third most popular vacation destination in 1986. If you just can’t wait for the completion of Noah’s Ark, you can get involved by donating $100 to sponsor a wooden peg, $1,000 for a plank, or the jackpot: $5,000 for a beam.
