How do you say “Food Truck” in French?

Travel News — By Morgan DeBoer on April 13, 2011 at 11:26 am

Children born today will grow up in a world where airline food is a thing of the past. Their parents will reminisce about pretzels, peanuts, and hot food passed around by flight attendants. They will assume we always had to use exact change or debit card to buy $11 sandwiches from the terminal or $11 fruit cups on the flight.

And just when we thought all hope was lost, we’ve learned Air France may be fighting that battle. They have engaged Michelin Star (26 Michelin Stars, that is) chef Joel Robuchon to create their first class menu and other top rated chefs worked on the menus for other cabins. Not only are they serving delicious fancy food in the air, they are proving it is good on the ground too. For one week in March, they handed out samples from an Air France food truck (camion alimentaire en français) in New York City.Image: Alex Steffler/Flickr

The food truck stopped in five different spots in New York and served crepes, sheperd’s pie, and assorted macaroons. According to the Bon Appetit blog, the food is, “far, far superior to the burnt sienna stinkloaf we ate on a flight to LA in 1997.”

Air France’s website shows what guests can expect on on a flight, international or domestic and the photos look pretty delicious. They also serve champagne.
