Icelandic Penis Museum Acquires Human Penis

We at NileGuide are always thrilled when this kind of news item falls across our desk. How can you ignore a headline like that?

At long last, Iceland’s Phallological Museum in the small town of Husavik has acquired its first human specimen, despite being open for over a decade.

According to the photos on the website (Phallus.is…seriously), the museum is already home to a huge collection of 276 penises. Or is it a collection of huge penises? Never mind. The museum contains everything from horse penises to a particularly large specimen belonging to a sperm whale. But it’s long been the dream of owner Sigurdur Hjartarson to get his hands on a real, human penis to complete his collection. Finally, that day has come.

Unfortunately, a castrated penis means someone had to die for it: and in this case, the victim was Hjartarson’s 95-year old friend, Pall Arason. Arason, who was apparently an attention-seeker in real life, agreed to donate his genitalia upon death to complete the museum’s collection of private parts. Several men had pledged their penises over the years, but it was Arason who stole the honour in what some men might consider the ultimate fight for postmortem bragging rights.

When asked why Arason would do such a thing, Hjartarson replied with “He was a boaster, a braggart … he liked to be provocative.” There’s no doubt about that! The penis was installed with great ceremony, and for some, there might be no better way to commemorate someone’s memory. Or penis.

For those inquiring about size, however, you’ll just have to check it out for yourself.

(Seriously, we could write about this all day.)

And if medical museums are your thing, check out this post we wrote a while back.
