The pangolin, or scaly anteater, is covered in pine cone-like scales that feel like human fingernails. When in danger, the pangolin curls in to a tight ball nearly impossible to unwind. While the odd little creatures are native to equatorial African, you can catch a glimpse of tree pangolins at the San Diego Zoo.
