What can I do on NileGuide?

On NileGuide, you can:

  • Discover things to do, restaurants, hotels, attractions  and nightlife ideas based on your personal preferences.
  • Get the scoop from our global team of local experts – including exclusive insider tips and expert suggestions for must-see and off-the-beaten-path experiences.
  • Research your vacation with aggregated reviews, ratings and awards from sites across the web.
  • Shop and book hotels, restaurants and activities all in one place, plus compare prices across several sites.
  • Save and Print a list of your favorite items for your trip, or turn your list into a fully personalized travel guide, including maps, trip itinerary, and custom guidebook information for each destination – all for free.
  • Collaborate and share your guide with friends, family and fellow travelers.

How do I find things to do that match my preferences?

Looking for a romantic restaurant in San Francisco’s Nob Hill neighborhood? A kid-friendly hotel in Florence? Use the filters at the top of each search page to refine the results to exactly what you’re seeking. Search by preference-type (kid-friendly, off the beaten path, business, etc.), neighborhood, cost and more. Then use our free trip planner to create an itinerary or guide from all of your finds!

How do I add things to my list to save for later or to print?

As you research your trip, you can save things that interest you by clicking the Add to List button. Change your mind? Just click the little garbage can icon next to the item in your list, and we’ll kick it out.

How do I print my guide?

There are two ways to print your guide:

Click on the orange Print List button at the bottom of your list for an easy-to-print page of the items you’ve added, including details like contact information, addresses, descriptions and photos. OR

Click on the white Organize button at the bottom of your list to customize your Guide-To-Go by scheduling items by day, adding notes, maps, destination guidebook info and more. Share your Guide-To-Go with the other travelers in your group or your friends. When you’re done customizing, click on Print My Guide-To-Go button to download your custom PDF.

How do I schedule my items and create a trip itinerary?

Click on the white Organize button at the bottom of your list, and you’ll have the opportunity to change the dates and length of your guide, schedule items to particular days, add notes and more. Just drag and drop items from your list to the day(s) you’d like to schedule.

Can I add a place not covered on NileGuide to my guide?

At this point you can not add your own places to your guide. This feature is currently under development, so check back soon!

How do I share my guide?

You can share your guide with friends, family, fellow travelers or the whole Nile community. Just click on the white Organize button at the bottom of your list and visit the Share with Friends tab. Here you’ll be able to invite others to view or collaborate on your guide as well as make your guide public.

How do I access my guides from my mobile?

Taking your Guide-To-Go on your phone is easy.  Just choose the “email me my guide” option when creating your Guide-To-Go and you’ll be able to access the PDF from your mobile email. iPhone users can take advantage of NileGuide’s free Guide-To-Go iPhone app featuring all your guides in the palm of your hand, plus maps and full guidebook information on all of our destinations.

Can I book travel on NileGuide?

Yes you can! You can check rates for any hotel you find on NileGuide via a simple widget offered  by our partner, BookingBuddy. This widget enables you to easily check rates from multiple sites at once. Any specific booking questions should go to the website actually processing the transaction (e.g., Hotels, Orbitz, Expedia, etc). Additionally, restaurants, tours and events can be easily booked through our trusted booking partners, including OpenTable, Viator, and Ticketmaster. For these services, specific booking inquiries should also go directly to these companies.

How do I recommend a new destination to be included on NileGuide?

We’re growing our destination coverage at a rapid clip. Let us know what destinations you’d like to see on NileGuide by emailing us at contact@nileguide.com.

Where did the name NileGuide come from?

The Nile river has been a source of myth and inspiration for thousands of years, and continues to beguile travelers today. The quest to discover the true source of the Nile is perhaps history’s greatest travel epic. Flowing from the hills of East Africa to the pyramids of Egypt, the Nile is a both a famed travel destination and a metaphor for unique travel experiences.

Henry Stanley took 2 years and needed 200 porters to verify the true source of the Nile and find Dr. David Livingstone. NileGuide helps you plan great trips with a few clicks of the mouse!

NileGuide provides a combination of curated travel content from trusted providers like Frommers, Yahoo! Travel, Forbes Traveler and Travel + Leisure in addition to the local insights created by our world class team of location-based writers in every destination.

Who are NileGuide local experts?

We know it’s the locals who provide the best insights about where to eat, sleep, what to do and more. Our local experts act as your eyes and ears on the ground before you go – providing great recommendations, local flavor and tips on the best ways to experience the places they call home. How do I get my hotel/restaurant/bar/museum/event listed on NileGuide?

Want to be included in our restaurants, sightseeing, hotels and accomodations guide for a particular city? We’re happy to consider submissions for new listings. Please send your inquiry to our content team at content@nileguide.com.

How do I submit corrections for inaccurate information?

Let us know about any errors or feedback on particular points of interest by clicking on the ‘suggest an update’ link located below the description box of every detail page. For more general site corrections, shoot us an email at contact@nileguide.com.
