Getting There
By Train -- The Hauptbahnhof at Aachen receives some 200 trains a day from all parts of Germany and from Paris, with easy connections from most major cities as well as nearby Cologne (trip time: 45 min.). By Car -- Access is by the A4 Autobahn east and west or the A44 north or south. Driving time from Cologne is 50 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic. Frankfurt is 3 1/2 hours away by car; Munich, 6 1/2 hours.

You'll find the Tourist Office Aachen on Friedrich-Wilhelm-Platz (tel. 0241/1802960; www.aachen.de). Office hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, Saturday 9am to 3pm, and Sunday 10am to 2pm.

Buses pull into the main railway station in the center of town at Peterskirchhof and Peterstrasse. Tickets are 1.50€ to 6.50€ ($2.40-$10). A 24-hour pass, available at the bus station, offers unlimited travel within Aachen for 6.10€ ($9.80).
