NileGuide Expert tip:

The Falcon Hospital is a distance from the city center so a car or taxi is required. Reservations are suggested and a 2 day notice is advisable. This place is a good way to experience Arab culture and the kids will love it!

Description:

Te falcon is the state bird of the U.A.E. and is much respected by the Emiratis. Falconry is an ancient Bedouin tradition and tribal ancestors used the birds to hunt small desert animals and other birds.

The Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital was established in 1999 to care for these magnificent birds. The ADFH is affiliated with the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, a federal office.

Visitors can enjoy a tour of the medical facilities and the falconry museum which details the importance of the relationship between man and bird. There is a large open fly area where falcons are free to do what they do best and a trained falcon demonstration is offered as well. Have your photo taken with a falcon! Finish your tour with an Arabic lunch or dinner on site under a traditional Bedouin tent.

Tours are conducted twice each Sunday-Thursday at 10 AM and 2PM.
