Description:

Created in 2007 to showcase Arab film makers in the region, the Abu Dhabi Film Festival (formerly the Middle East International Film Festival) continues to be an important cultural event in Abu Dhabi. Presented by the Abu Dhabi Authority of Culture and Heritage for 10 days each October, the festival draws artists and celebrities from all over the world.

Films are screened mostly at the iconic Emirates Palace and compete for the $100,000 first prize in their respective categories as judged by panels of cinematic experts. In between screenings, there are lavish, star studded gala events. The public is invited but tickets are required.

The Abu Dhabi Film Festival is one of the "must see" events here. The city realizes the importance of the festival and pulls out all stops to create a world-class experience for cinema industry professionals and film fans alike. If your idea of a great time is to see the next undiscovered blockbuster movie, attend parties and rub elbows with stars in a luxurious venue, the Abu Dhabi Film Festival is for you!
