Amigo Miguel (El) - Acapulco

  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Superb atmosphere from 2 p.m. onwards on weekends and Mexican feast-days, with live musicians (one-man-band, a Trío) wandering in and out -- always entertaining but also often of extraordinary quality.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

This restaurant is best if you can communicate well in Spanish and enjoy some banter with the waiters, as they might expect you to dislike authentic spicy and adventurous cuisine, serve you a more bland fare and overcharge you for the trouble.

    Description:

    • This traditional family restaurant is part of classic Acapulco, inexpensive and frequented more by Mexicans than foreigners. There are three branches, the one of the beach being more "touristy" while this one, in the heart of town, has an authentic feeling, especially enjoying oysters by night on a weekend, surrounded by local folk. Different fish and shellfish will be in season depending on the time of year, and the best thing is to point to your neighbor and ask what they are eating, and get the waiter to show you what it is in the menu.
