Day 1 - Acapulco

The Fairmont Pierre Marques is a recently renovated Acapulco institution, and one of its finest hotels. On Diamond Point, there are incredible views of both the bay and the mountains from the private beach and several pools, and the location and atmosphere make this an incredibly tranquil and peaceful place to stay. There are several good restaurants and a deli here, too, which are included in the package, as well as use of the facilities at the nearby sister hotel, the Princess. Take a stroll through the Diamante Area around the hotel, Acapulco's most affluent and newer neighborhood, where there are many interesting galleries, restaurants, and other businesses, as well as a huge beach and lots of parks and green areas. A particular landmark here is the Capilla de la Paz, where there are spectacular views of the city and the bay from the gardens, fountains, and landscaping around the chapel. In the evening, journey to the Playa Pie de la Cuesta for the best sunset vantage point in town. Try traditional Acapulco cuisine during a late dinner on the terrace at La Mansion Bohemia, where the mood is casual and fun.

Day 2 - Acapulco

A great way to explore Acapulco Bay is to take a glass-bottomed boat tour around the bay and out to Isla Roqueta, where there are several places to eat and an exotic species zoo. From here, take a half-day snorkeling tour off of the isla to get a closer view at the sealife. Get a view from the top of a mountain while enjoying one of Acapulco's finest restaurants at Kookaburra, which has traditional Mexican as well as Latin and international fusion.

Walk around the Zocalo and the central area of town and stop into any of the small businesses around here to get a sense of local Acapulco. In the afternoon, make a visit to the Laguna de Tres Palos, where you can do anything from water-skiing to bird-watching in this huge beautiful lagoon with diverse wildlife. Madeiras is the perfect place to relax at the end of the day with a margarita overlooking the bay, and has spectacular international fusion fare.

Day 4 - Acapulco

Take a dive tour with Swiss Divers, a professional and reliable company, which offers lessons and half-day dives for beginners and experienced divers. There are sunken shipwrecks, caves, and plenty of tropical marine life to explore around the bay. Offered traditionally only on Thursday afternoons, pozole is not to be missed. Los Cazadores is one of Acapulco's best pozole joints, so show up mid-afternoon to make sure you'll get a serving of the delicious stew amid the music and festivities. After you're thoroughly stuffed, head up to the viewing platform or a nearby hotel terrace for a drink to enjoy a night-viewing of the spectacular jumps of the La Quebrada cliff divers, one of Acapulco's most memorable sights.
