Nature Attractions in Albuquerque

With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, Albuquerque is an outdoor lover's playground year-round. Hike Petroglyph National Monument and look for rock carvings left centuries ago by Native Americans. Take the Sandia Tram to the top of the mountain, or drive to the ski area, and hike, bike and ski in the winter. Hike the trails along the Rio Grande at the Rio Grande Nature Center, or explore ancient ruins at Jemez and Coronado state monuments outside of town. The foothills along the base of the Sandia Mountains are excellent for mountain biking, running and hiking. Road bikers will enjoy riding Tramway Boulevard along the base of the mountain. For golfers, there are many public and private courses to choose from, even it the winter. A few of our favorites are listed here.
