Description:
This ivy-covered estate's pure Tudor, crow-stepped gables, mullioned windows, and ornate chimneys capture the spirit of the days of Henry VIII and his strong-willed daughter Elizabeth (the latter may have held court here). Today, it provides some of the finest accommodations in Suffolk. You enter through a heavy, studded Tudor door into a flagstone hallway with antiques. The butler will show you to your bedroom. Many rooms have four-poster beds, one of them a monumental 1587 specimen. Bedrooms are statements in luxury and elegance.
If you arrive before sundown, you may want to stroll through the 14-hectare (34-acre) gardens, which include a rose garden, herbaceous borders, and greenhouses.
