Sit at one of the outdoor cafés or restaurants and watch the locals shop at the supermarket and fruit and vegetable shops or stop and chat with friends in the piazza. The name of the piazza is based on the popular tradition that the doges of the Republic of Amalfi once lived in the palazzos surrounding the piazza. Today it is primarily a residential area of town offering a chance to experience a moment of daily life in Amalfi.
