Crowne Plaza Belém

• Brand-new in 2006 and long overdue, the Crowne Plaza is the only truly top-notch hotel in Belém. Better yet, it's located in Nazaré, a pleasant leafy neighborhood with shops and cafes and a nice safe feel, still just a pleasant 20-minute stroll from the sights in Centro. Rooms are pleasant and modern, with tile floors and queen-size or two twin beds, dressed up in top-quality Egyptian cotton, with bathrobes and slippers for an added touch of elegance. The top three Executive floors include little extras like a complimentary daily paper, fruit plate and mineral water, and access to the Club Lounge, but considering the rooms themselves are much the same it's not really worth the price premium, unless you're in need of the ego boost that comes with calling yourself an executive.
