  • The area around Amsterdam's Central Station offers a culinary explosion. And don't be fooled into thinking that the quality will be poor due to the number of tourists attracted to the area. Some of the best food in the city is available within a 5 minute radius of Central Station. The fact that China town is opposite the station means that the bias is definitely tending towards the Asian style kitchen, but there's actually something for every taste close by. They key areas close to the station are the Zeedijk, which is the centre of China Town, the Nieuwmarkt, which is surrounded by wonderful terraces, with the old gatehouse, De Waag in the centre (also an excellent restaurant) and the Warmoestraat, which caters more towards the lower end of the market, but still has some gems among them such as Kabool, which serves amazing fondues.
