Description:
Just 700m (760 yd.) from Centraal Station, this 1911 hotel, still owned by descendants of the original proprietors, has an 18th-century facade. Its rooms are super-modern, though, with thick carpets and ample wardrobe space. Rooms at the front of the hotel tend to get more light, but are also subject to more street noise; some have balconies. The award-winning De Roode Leeuw restaurant serves typical Dutch cuisine. The glassed-in heated terrace overlooking the Dam is a pleasant spot for a beer (open daily 11am-11:30pm).
