Description:
This hotel spreads through 25 old adjoining canal houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It has frontage on the historic Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canals, and you walk between two houses to enter the lobby, or climb the steps of a former merchant's house to enter the ever-crowded and cheerful Pulitzer Bar. With the exception of bare beams or brick walls here and there, the Pulitzer's interior is modern, and the multiplicity of buildings means that rooms have different sizes, shapes, and desirability in terms of location, from elegant salons to attic garrets. The rooms with the best views look out over either the canals or the hotel garden, so ask for these. The Pulitzer is big on culture; it maintains its own art gallery, and every August, it sponsors the popular classical-music Prinsengracht Concert, performed by musicians on barges in the canal. As icing on the cake, the Pulitzer owns a restored 1909 saloon cruiser, which awaits you at the hotel's own jetty. The Rendezvous Lounge has a canalside entrance and serves lunch and snacks. Pulitzer's Bar is ideal for a quiet drink.

Other features:
Guests may dine casually at one of the bars or restaurants. In the summer, lunch and dinner are also served in the courtyard garden; the dominant feature of the courtyard is the art nouveau Garden Room. Experience the beauty of the Saxenburg Room, which still has most of its original 17th-century interior.
