When everywhere else it quiet, this bar will always be full.
NileGuide Expert tip:
Arrive before 15:00 in the summer if you want a spot on the terrace to watch the sun go down.
- This popular cafe is always busy, attracting a mix of students and a young after-work crowd. It's wooden floors and tables give the interior a cozy feel. It is probably most popular for its large terrace in the summer which has a wonderful view over the Waag (the old weighing house) and the Nieuwmarkt square. It's one of the last terraces to catch the evening sun in Amsterdam. It has free wifi and terrace heaters, if its not quite warm enough to sit outside. The service can be a bit slow, so be prepared to put a lot of energy into attracting the waiter's attention, or simply walk inside and order at the bar. They have a limited menu including toasted sandwiches, smoothies, sandwiches, and typical dutch snacks. They also have a large range of beers.
