Hotel De Goudfazant

Hotel De Goudfazant - Amsterdam
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Worth the 20 minute walk from Central station, if you like alternative locations and exceptional quality for a reasonable price.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

This resaurant has never advertised, but despite its off the beaten track location, is always full.

    Description:

    • This restaurant takes a bit of effort to get to, but it's well worth it. If you're feeling fit, take the free ferry from behind Central Station to the Meeuwenlaan-IJplein. From here it's about a 20 minute walk. But take a print out of a map, as you'll probably think you've taken a wrong turning, given that you have to walk through an industrial area to get there.

Once you've arrived though, it's worth it. A full glass wall on one side of the warehouse gives you a great view over the Ij river towards Amsterdam's new island neighborhoods. And while it's in an old warehouse, you won't be slumming it, the tables have white linen cloths and quality crockery. The menu is international in flavor, with a tendency towards french, is of a very high standard and the three course menu costs Euro 30.50 (2011 prices). The service is also excellent.
