Besides government archives, there are also private company archives which have played an important role in the development of Amsterdam - the Artis or the Concert Hall for example. You'll see Amsterdam just as your predecessors saw it: over 700,000 photos, prints and drawings are kept here. The Gemeentearchief is quite simply Amsterdam's memory.
