Description:

  • The world's first Gay Monument was constructed in memory of the gay men and women persecuted during WWII. The monument is to serve as a reminder of what took place and its slogan is, therefore, "Never again." The monument consists of three triangles representing the past, the present, and the future enclosed in a larger fourth triangle--as homosexual men were forced to wear pink triangles while in the concentration camps of WWII. The monument was designed by Karin Daan in 1979 and unveiled in 1987.
