Description:

  • What is floating? Officially it's called REST (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy) and originated from a medical treatment given in the 1950s. Enclosed floating cabins are filled with extremely salty water which allows you to become entirely weightless. In theory this allows all parts of the body and brain to get back in balance leaving you feeling completely energised and positive. It is said to improve the immune system, reduce stress and speed up recovery from injuries.

The first experience is different for everyone. I personally found it a little bit claustrophobic and the salt water got in my eyes. But this is apparently to be expected. The true benefits come during further floating sessions.

If it's a dreary day outside and you want to get warm, then head for this womb like experience! It's truly a unique experience and although not to everyone's taste, it is certainly interesting to try it, and you can always use the hour of perfect peace and quiet to plan your afternoon of sightseeing in Amsterdam!
