VOC-schip Amsterdam (Het)

Description:

  • Owned by the Dutch East India Company, the Amsterdam VOC was a beauty to look at and so is its replica at the pier near Marinetime Museum. In its times, the VOC, was a "mirror return ship" used as a means of voyage between the Dutch East India Company and the East Indies. This reliable ship met its fateful end in a shipwreck which was discovered in 1969. Visitors can take a look into the lives of the sailors in the 18th century and the technology used back then for navigation and sailing.
