Public Question Asked by Dentist In Budapest-Melinda Cook about Amsterdam
I am going to Amsterdam on the 20th of May. Can someone please update me about the expected weather for the next week? Also, which wind mill is the nicest in Holland and what is the best cheese market? Thanks for your help in advance.

windmills close to AMS can be found at Zaanse Schans. These Zaanse Schans has besides windmills also cheesemaking and wooden shoe making places. So the best off Holland in a nutshell and all within close distance of our capital Amsterdam. Weatherforecast is going to be ok. About 23 degrees is expected at the moment. Enjoy! Eva

Hi and windmills are in abundance here but what is your interests in them? As an architectural viewpoint or as a beauty from a distance to appreciate the unique wonders t=it contributes to our drainage system? Here's a pic I took of one of Holland's many places taken at Ridderkerk. Let me know when or how I can show you this famous stretch of walking distance along side them...>>: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Cmy5chi/Kinderdijk%20Mills/P1040339.jpg and http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Cmy5chi/Kinderdijk%20Mills/P1040316.jpg
Thats my dog Gaby... enjoying her perspective on the mills...:)
Weather is expected to trail & hold between 22 - 27 degrees which is an excellent temp for you in bringing in just a warm overcoat but the rest with light jumpers and certainly, in swinging jeans that you look great in... just my imagination here...;)
Say cheese and I'll share a nice slice with you at Volendam where the moring market awaits the early visiting bird... Will be glad to show you, we can drive up there too.

Thank you very much for your kind help, we had a great time in Amsterdam and we were lucky enough to catch the best weather ever too. We been to the windmills and all the cheese places (Edam, Gouda) and the market in Alkmaar. Thanks once again for your time and help towards me. All the best to you, Melinda from Hungary

The official dutch weather office forecast (tends to be the most reliable as the weather in Holland can be very localised) can be found on www.knmi.nl

Weather is always an iffu subject to discuss. Things can change quickly.
For now it looks like we'll have temperatures around 16-18 C, not too much rain hopefully...... but as I said, it can change quickly.
You can see the rainfall on a special website that we have here: http://buienradar.nl/
The blue patches is the radar image of rain falling....
The 'nicest' windmill I don't know, but there is a museum mill not far from Alkmaar. It has a tiny museum next to it, there is a 10 minute movie explaining the history of the polders (the land gained from the sea in many places, by windmills), and you can visit the mill itself, climb up inside and when you are lucky, it will be running!

You will find the three mills just outside the little village of 'Stompetoren' on the road from Alkmaar to Hoorn. the N243 (called 'Noordervaart'). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schermerhorn
The most famous cheese market is that of Alkmaar I believe.

Have a nice trip !

Well Gouda actually is a very nice Market town, main market is in the Main Square 2 days a week, and they have several cheese stores. You can also have a guided tour up to Edam.
tours leave via amsterdam. You will need to contact a tour operator for more indepth information, or go online and look under the main amsterdam page at:- www.amsterdam.nl
This page has lots of useful information and is a direct link for the VVV (tourist information), Lists of different hotels and hostels can also be found on the page.
