Getting There
There are 12 regular trains (trip time: 1 1/2 hr.) and 8 to 10 TGV trains (55 min.) every day from Bordeaux; the one-way fare is 19€ to 24€ ($28-$35). There are also 10 trains daily from Saintes (trip time: 1 hr.) and another five from Poitiers (trip time: 45 min.). From Paris's Montparnasse Station, there are seven TGV trains daily (trip time: 3 hr.); the one-way fare is 62€ ($90). For train information and schedules, call tel. 36-35 or 08-92-35-35-35. Citram, place du Champ de Mars, Angoulême (tel. 05-45-95-95-99; www.citram.fr), runs eight buses per day between Cognac and Angoulême. The trip takes 1 hour and costs 7.45€ ($11) each way. If you're driving from Bordeaux, take N10 northeast to Angoulême.
