Getting back to nature is one of the reasons you decided to visit Arches, right? Wildlife is also to be found in this remarkable desert environment. We chose our top nature hikes that also reveal some of the best wildlife in Arches, although you'll have to tread lightly and peer close.
Delicate Arch Trail and its Viewpoint Trail make the cut because, well, this arch is the pinnacle of nature in Arches! This most famous of natural arches symbolizes nature at its wildest best. Drinking in the view can center even the most city-harried visitor looking for a peaceful break. And since Landscape Arch is one of the longest natural arches in the world, it definitely makes the cut. We love the ranger-led Fiery Furnace hike because it showcases some of the best natural things in Arches: the geologic forces that shaped this very special park.
The Junior Ranger program allows kids to explore nature and wildlife on their own, making those natural discoveries all the sweeter. Anywhere in the Devils Garden Primitive Loop is pretty darn full of nature; keep an eye out for lizards, birds, and tiny mammals who are hardy enough to survive in this harsh and arid land.
We included the Klondike Bluffs and Tower Arch because since they're a little farther out, they offer a deeper immersion into the solitude of nature that many visitors crave. If you're quiet enough when you hike these trails, you might also glimpse some of the shy local wildlife.
