If you're looking to surprise your significant other with a romantic meal while vacationing in Aruba, you won't have to look very far. Aruba is just oozing with romantic restaurants. Located in a restored cunucu (farm) home, Gasparito Restaurant and Art Gallery features intimate dining rooms inside and a breezy outdoor patio and bar. The tinkling of a fountain, modern rattan chairs, and candlelight enhance the courtyard's warmth. Inside, vaulted ceilings embrace cozy rooms. Local art, much of it for sale, graces the interior walls. Main courses focus on seafood and Aruban dishes, but the menu makes a special nod to vegetarians, and the filet mignon has vocal fans. This place is definitely a top pick for people in love.
The Flying Fishbone is a beachside restaurant perfect for a moonlit dinner in the old fishing village of Savaneta. Many tables line the rustic wooden deck and serene beach, and are so close to the sea that your feet may get wet. Swaying palm trees and starlight glittering in the sea are the stage for the restaurant's nouvelle cuisine. Main courses include braised wahoo with papaya chutney and rock lobster poached in brandy stock. The portions are nouvelle, too, which means you'll have room for mango mousse or pineapple-coconut pie.
A table for two in the Garden of Eden? Dining on the crescent-shaped patio of Ruinas del Mar is like spending an hour or two before the fall. Unperturbed by the muffled waterfalls nearby, serene black swans and Japanese koi fish glide through the terrace-side lagoon, while tropical birds in the luxuriant foliage serenade the setting sun. It's an artificial environment -- but in lieu of paradise, it will do. So, go ahead, surprise your loved one. But these romantic Aruba restaurants just might end up surprising you, too.
