Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort

Description:

  • A quiet timeshare affiliated with Divi Resorts, the Phoenix has some distinctive features. Its triangular, totally private balconies offer unobstructed ocean views as good as any on the island. And its well-equipped health club is so inviting you'll be tempted to work up a sweat even if your exercise regimen usually consists of breathing -- the light flooding through the high cathedral windows is inspiring. Not converted? Well, the rooms aren't too shabby, either. The 66 tower units feature rose tile floors, sisal mats, rattan furniture, and kitchenettes or full kitchens; some one-bedroom units have an extra half-bathroom and a second balcony. Next to the tower, one- and two-bedroom villas boast enormous rooms, balconies that open off the master bedroom and living room, full kitchens, and living/dining areas. Some one-bedrooms have two bathrooms. Ask for a villa away from the noisy air-conditioning unit. Guests are independent and 30-plus, with a smattering of kids. If you're coming from the Low-Rises, the 14-floor Phoenix tower marks the beginning of Palm Beach. Breakwaters protect the resort's large, peaceful oceanfront. Some say it's windier than farther up the High-Rise strip. That's a good thing on a really hot day, but when the gusts are extreme, it's like getting sandblasted.

Facilities: Restaurant; bar; 2 outdoor pools; 18-hole championship golf course nearby; tennis courts nearby; excellent health club and spa; watersports equipment/rentals; children's activities; concierge; tour/activities desk; Wi-Fi ($10 per day); shops; laundry service; dry cleaning
