Description:
- Before interstates there were highways. Before highways were country roads. And before them all, there was the Black Mountain Inn. Travelers have visited the Inn since the 1830's when it opened as a stage coach stop. Many came for healing, as for several years it's crisp mountain climate made it the perfect sanatorium. Still later, the Inn became an artists' retreat welcoming the likes of Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, and Helen Keller. Fourteen years ago it found itself in Innkeeper June Bergeron's kindly hands, and now offers the same rustic hospitality that first made it famous. The Inn allows you to create your own mountain experience. Seven welcoming guest rooms, each with their own private bath, are just the beginning. Each morning June serves her award-winning cuisine buffet style: a main course accompanied by fresh fruit in season, tea and fresh-brewed coffee, home-baked breads, and her own home-made granola that has become something of a local legend. After a sumptuous breakfast with friends at the morning table, the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains and their neighbors are yours to re-discover - the Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock, and the local beauty of our own valley, are all convenient to the Inn. Pets are welcome here, too, and there are plenty of pet-friendly hiking trails nearby.
