Description:
- The Appalachian Trail is a marked walking trail that begins in Maine and ends in Georgia and is used by anyone looking to take a short, intermediate or long hike. Trailbooks can be purchased in local bookstores such as Malaprop's in downtown Asheville. A popular trip is to Clingman's Dome, the second highest peak in the area which rises 6,643 feet and is located long the state-line ridge of North Carolina and Tennessee. You can drive close to this point and then walk the last half-mile.
