Description:
First opened in 1925, this nine-story historic hotel is one of the finest hotels between Portland and San Francisco. In the light-filled lobby there are cases full of Victorian-era natural-history displays, and, on the mezzanine overlooking the lobby, a continental breakfast is served each morning. Guest rooms are luxuriously appointed and beds sport crisp white linens, feather pillows, and down comforters. Although all the rooms have large windows, the corner rooms are worth requesting, as are rooms facing east over the city and the valley. Be sure to notice the fascinating collection of pressed plants that is on display behind the reception desk, in the elevator, and in guest rooms.
