• Casual and not too expensive, Tabu may seem like the absolute antithesis of a pretheater restaurant, but there's only so much French food you can eat. The fish tacos, which come three to a plate, each with its own distinctive sauce, are my favorite dish here. For a side dish, try the unusual fried plantains with black beans and jalapeño cream sauce. Tabu is also one of Ashland's most popular night spots, and several nights a week there's live music or salsa dancing.
