Grizzly Lake Trail - Aspen
  • Type: Hiking
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Good fishing and a true backcountry experience not far from the heart of Aspen.

  • Description:

    • The Grizzly Lake area lets you escape into the wilderness without having to travel far from Aspen. A modest 3.6 mile hike (one-way) gains just under 2,000 feet of elevation and takes you into the backcountry of Colorado, where the cut-throat trout fishing is excellent in Grizzly Lake. Camping is allowed both at the lake and along the trail. Directions to Grizzly Lake: start by following Highway 82 10 miles east from Aspen. Turn right on unpaved Lincoln Creek Road and follow it 6.1 miles to the Grizzly Creek Reservoir. The trailhead is on the left just before the Portal Campground.
