Description:

  • The Maroon-Snowmass, East Snowmass and West Snowmass Trails all begin in this area. When driving to the trailheads, the East Snowmass Trail is reached just before the Maroon-Snowmass and West Snowmass Trails, which are found at the end of the road. All trails lead into the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness.

The Maroon-Snowmass Trail leads past Snowmass Lake, over Buckskin Pass and eventually to Maroon Lake at the West Maroon Portal. The Maroon-Snowmass Trail also connects to several other trails in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness including #1973 over Trail Rider Pass, #1978 Willow Lake Trail.

The East Snowmass Trail eventually connects to #1978 Willow Lake Trail and can also be followed to reach Maroon Lake. Directions: Drive 6 miles west of Aspen on Highway 82 and turn left onto Brush Creek Road. Continue on Brush Creek Road 5.3 miles and turn right onto Divide Road. Divide Road turns into a gravel road and passes Krabloonik Restaurant & Kennels, then descends steeply to the valley bottom where the road forks. Take the left fork, the East Snowmass trailhead will be just beyond the wooden bridge, on the left side of the road. The Maroon-Snowmass and West Snowmass Trails begin at the end of the gravel road, just beyond the East Snowmass Trail.
