Description:
- In the winter, Snowmass Village offers world-class alpine skiing and snowboarding. On average, about 300 inches of snow falls per year. That means that not only is the alpine skiing excellent, but snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and backcountry adventures are readily available.
During the summer months the backcountry opens to the greater population. Several trails that access the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness begin in Snowmass Village. The White River National Forest surrounds this small community. The waters of the Roaring Fork lie within ten miles of the village. Snowmass Village and its surrounds are filled with options for recreation. Alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are popular pursuits during the winter months. In summer visitors and locals alike enjoy hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, fishing, motorcycling and four-wheel driving.
Snowmass Village is located eight miles from Aspen along the banks of Brush Creek. It is nestled in the high terrain of the Elk Mountains.
