Recent upgrades the last couple of years have made this lodge SING. Reasonable prices and a great location!
Description:
Since 1970, this town-mainstay has been one of Aspen's more affordable lodging choices. Located on Main Street (you cannot miss the towering spread eagle sculpture perched on the roof), the lodge offers easy access to downtown, and the free ski shuttle stops just outside the front door. The rooms feature two queen beds and limited kitchen space, as well as wood paneled walls, fireplaces and work desks/dining tables. The rooms on the upper floors have balconies. Apartment-like rooms are cozy and comfortable!
Description:
For those looking for comfort in a shoe string budget, consider this little gem. Located in the residential east end of town, the small lodge is quiet and intimate. Although it is a world away from the town's nest of luxury resorts, you are still in Aspen. Even though the lodge is on the economy list, it still features many of the amenities found elsewhere. You will find a cozy outdoor hot tub and awesome mountain views.

Superior accommodations and service.
Description:
Located just 17 paces (yes, it's been measured) from the base terminal of the Silver Queen Gondola, the ski-in, ski-out Little Nell boasts the virtues of an intimate country inn as well as the personalized service and amenities of a grand hotel. No two guest rooms are alike, but each has a gas fireplace, Belgian-wool carpeting, down-filled lounge chairs or sofa, oversized bed with down comforter, and marble-finished bathroom with two vanities, separate shower and tub, and high-end toiletries. Some suites have separate Jacuzzi tubs and steam showers. All rooms have a view of either the town or the mountain. The hotel's signature (and dog-friendly!) Montagna restaurant serves "farmhouse cooking" by acclaimed chef Ryan Hardy in an artsy atmosphere with large windows looking toward the hotel courtyard and Aspen Mountain. Both the famed living room and the bar were designed by David Easton, an interior designer of renown. The adjoining bar offers a more relaxed atmosphere.

Want to ski with the locals in a BIG way? Do The Bowl!
Description:
This area is more of a spine than a mountain, yet it still offers 112 trails. It is a favorite of locals because 47 percent of the trails are expert rated and many feature outstanding mogul runs that soften up nicely in the sun. Even if you are not up for trying an expert run, a chairlift ride to the summit is worth the stunning view of the Maroon Bells. Beginners and intermediates can find trails to their liking on the lower half of the mountain. The mountain is serviced by four lifts and three restaurants.
Day Note:
Day 2 Get ready for a full day on the slopes! Start off with a good breakfast at Poppycock's or if you're in a hurry, grab a bagel and coffee at several of the local shops in town. Saturday is best utilized by hitting up either Aspen Mountain or Aspen Highlands. Both offer all levels of terrain with snowboarders often preferring Aspen Mountain and many skiers preferring the bump runs at Aspen Highlands. Since you're here to relax, skiing followed by a good...read more

Located on Main Street, this is one of those places which looks expensive but is surprisingly budget friendly. The interior's dark adobe walls and muted lighting give it a classy, southwest look. There are plenty of window tables for people watching. It tends to be more popular with tourists than with the locals. The servings are generous; Fajitas, quesadillas and enchiladas dominate the menu. A kid's menu is available. Its well-known margaritas are festive fun-fuel.

Alone? Sit at the locals table and get all the scoop!
Description:
Since 1965 this restaurant is known as one of Aspen's true dining landmarks. It takes such care in serving authentic Austrian fare that you will leave with a strange hankering to watch the Sound of Music. The menu, as expected, serves plenty of traditional Austrian dishes, such as Bratwurst and Sauerbraten. It also, however, offers a nice continental selection too, including Dover sole, sirloin steak, and grilled pork chops. A kid's menu is also available. Please note that the restaurant closes at 10:30p, but the bar remains open until midnight.

Description:
Despite all of the high-brow hype that blankets Aspen one of its true appeal-factors is that it still offers some down-home eateries where all pretensions are dropped. This deli is one such place. The decor is nothing but post cards and ski and biking decals stuck to the walls. Seating is limited to a line of bar stools along the deli counter. Speciality subs are the stars of its menu and sandwiches, soups and salads round out it off. Details of the eating options are available on the website so remember to check it out!

Best milkshakes and malts this side of the Mississippi.
Description:
This novelty restaurant, which looks like something from the Eisenhower administration, is named after owner "Boogie" Weinglass, who was portrayed by Mickey Rourke in the film Diner. Old photographs and the obligatory Elvis Presley mementos line the walls. It is popular with tourists and is very kid friendly. If you are curious to know what a big burger looks like, order the Boogie Burger. Instead of a beef patty, it is a beef edifice, which weighs one whopping pound. For something lighter, opt for the Ahi sandwich or the Chicken Parmesan.

Bring your A-game to Aspen Mountain—the whole town will be watching as you rip down the slopes.
Description:
Aspen Mountain is truly a local mountain--several runs end right on the streets of downtown Aspen. A modest 8 lifts service 76 trails and most of the terrain is geared towards strong intermediate and expert skiers and riders. Three restaurants are directly on the mountain so you don't have to slow down to curb your hunger. Those who want to showcase their skills are advised to challenge the Little Nell run, whose terminus is directly in downtown Aspen. If you impress the locals, take a bow and get back on the mountain!
Day Note:
Day 3 After checking out of your hotel, head north to Snowmass for a day on the slopes on Snowmass Mountain. Since you will likely be headed north to return home (via I-70) visiting Snowmass on your final day makes the most sense. Downtown Aspen can accumulate quite a bit of traffic for a small town. Enjoy one more day on the varied terrain of Snowmass and head for home when the sun goes down (or grab one more quick meal in one of the great restaurants in Snowmass)....read more
