Isis Hotel Aswan

• Located between the road and the river, the Isis is probably the best moderately priced option in town. The hotel is close to the Nile with a low-profile, one-story layout that puts the restaurant and 20 of the rooms directly on the water. The rooms are not particularly large, and the garden-view units can feel like rabbit hutches; both pool- and Nile-view rooms are very acceptable. A word of caution: There is at least one pool-view room at the end of the row that has a view of nothing but the registration desk, so be sure to ask whether your room really has a view of the pool.
