Description:
Right next to the Old Cataract, the New Cataract has none of its counterpart's faded charm but few of the glaring faults, either. It, too, will be closing in 2008 for a much-needed overhaul, but the view on the Nile side will remain great: across the swimming pool to the first cataract and over the river to the golden sand of the desert. I wouldn't expect the view from the standard rooms to improve, however -- the view across the back of Aswan is unappealing at the best of times, and particularly so at Cataract prices.
