Villas Arco Iris

Description:

• This is a cozy collection of two-story cabins on the slightly quieter, eastern end of Atacames. The units have thatched roofs, whitewashed walls, and a small front porch with a hammock. Rooms are simple, and slightly rustic inside, but they feature private bathrooms, air-conditioning, and small fridges. Some come with kitchenettes. The whole complex is set in a lushly planted garden area, with tall palms overhead and a central sandy lane. In the back is a pretty little pool with a large deck area around it. The owners have just finished building a major high-rise resort and condominium nearby, called the Arco Iris Resort (www.arcoirisresort.com), but, in many ways, I find that the older rooms here have more character.
